A recipe is essentially a series of instructions which describe how to make or prepare something, specifically a dish. The word recipe originates from the middle English word quhincin, which literally means "to shape". The dish was then known as quiche. As time passed, quiches developed into foods which can be eaten as food or displayed as a work of art. The word recipe is still used in modern information technology (e.g, computerized recipes) or in the medical sciences (e.g. immunology or cardiology).
